Taking Down Donald Sterling

Lots of hubbub about Donald Sterling lately, which comes after the TMZ tabloid’s exposé featuring audio which apparently unveils the guys true colors on race relationships. I think everyone has put in their two cents worth; even Magic Johnson had something to say. None can doubt the court of public opinion has already acted as trial, jury, and executioner.

I listened to the controversial audio clip, and I can see why so many have rallied to take down Sterling. I think maybe Sterling deserves everything that’s coming to him. The pound of flesh will be taken.

I never know what to make of these things. I suppose the problem of racism is still alive and well, albeit walking among us in a different form. I can even abide by the idea that it is well past time to take down this monster.

But even from Japanese lips—not from just person but this is a common story—I have heard people confess, “My parent told me you can be friends with anyone, just don’t marry someone who is Black…White…Mexican…” If Sterling needs to be brought down a notch, who else does? What about my own?
