Learning to Pray with Jesus

Praying to the Father through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit is one of the great spiritual blessings available to the Christians. I would also admit developing the discipline of prayer is still a challenge. It is so simple just to start laying out the list of things I want God to do for me; however, Christ bids me to pray this way: Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts As we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation But deliver us from evil (Matt 6:9-13) What a different pattern of prayer than simply asking for stuff. We pray to give glory to God. We pray that the kingdom of God would be a reality in heaven and earth. Then we pray for our needs, but always recognizing our canceled debt of sin in light of those who are the source of our offenses. We also seek the Lord to lead us away from temptation t

DOOMSDAY DID NOT OCCUR! HAROLD CAMPING IS A FALSE PROPHET!

Well, Harold Camping’s d-day declaration came and went. He is been proven once again to be a false prophet. He might have declared the church age is over and called Christians to flee their churches and gather around his teaching, but Christians are to flee Harold Camping. Here is what I will predict. D-day declarations will still continue. The next one is set at December 21, 2012 with the alleged end to the long count Mayan Calendar, but this too will also fail. There shall be many radio, television, and internet personalities arising up to claim they know they exact date of doomsday, but none shall ever pan out. Sadly, I predict there shall be many who shall be misled into this end time madness, some of them at great cost to their families, finances, fellowship, and future. People make life changing decisions based upon these false prophecies. In the most recent one, some have even gave up their life savings to put up billboards warning about May 21, 2011 — a false prophecy that ca

The Coming and Going of May 21, 2011: Why Harold Camping's Doomsday Prediction Will Fail.

William Miller predicted Jesus’ second coming would be on October 22, 1844. Rev. M. Baxter of the Church of England predicted the Battle of Armageddon would occur in 1868. Former Millerites turned Seventh-day Adventist set 1874 as the year of Christ’s return. Jehovah’s Witnesses struck out with predictions of Christ return in 1914, 1925, and 1975. Hal Lindsey in The Late Great Planet Earth predicted the rapture would occur before December 31, 1981. Lester Sumrall said I Predict 2000. Edgar Whisenant thought between September 11 and 13 of 1988. The Korean Hyoo-goo movement predicted October 28, 1992. Grant Jeffery though the end would be in 2000. 1 The common denominator of these doomsday predictions, and all others, they are 100% wrong 100% of the time. So when Harold Egbert Camping predicted the rapture would occur in September 7, 1994, no one should have believed him then, and now that he is saying its May 21, 2011, we can be certain this doomsday date prediction will also fail.

On Alms, Prayers, and Fasts

Jesus Christ taught His followers to look beyond a self-glorifying superficiality that has become an all too often reality of the human condition. This type of vainglory even presents itself in an ostentatious kind of spirituality that spoils the very alms, prayers, and fasts we offer to the Lord. Christ warns, “Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 6:1). Instead of giving for the sake of impressing others, Christ teaches to give without mind to what others think, since God is aware of all that happens, and shall reward His servants accordingly (Matt. 6:2-4). Instead of adopting the kinds of prayers that grab the attention of onlookers, or using prayer formulas packaged with empty promises of sating one’s own carnality, Christ taught us to pray as a means of communing with the Heavenly Father (Matt. 6:5-15). Instead of using the fast to dazzle others with one’s own capacity for

Osama bin Laden’s End

President Barack Obama’s speech on bin Laden’s death On Sunday evening I was checking some emails when I got a glimpse of a yahoo newsflash that Osama bin Laden was killed in Pakistan by U.S. Forces . After reading through the transcript of President Barack Obama’s speech on bin Laden’s death , I can certainly concur with the President that the “death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date in our nation’s effort to defeat al Qaeda” and that one must not confuse opposition to terrorism as a war against Islam. Hank Hanegraaff also offered some helpful insights on Bin Laden’s death on the May 2, 2011 edition of the Bible Answer Man broadcast . It is wholly consistent from the just war tradition that one like Bin Laden, who had organized the mass murder of people, and continually carried out violence against innocent people to be opposed with military force. Paul writes, “Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the sam
