Series of videos released by the Center for Medical Progress in attempts to expose Planned Parenthood in the illegal sale of aborted fetal tissue have certainly generated controversy, and it is chilling to think that such kinds of negotiations would even take place. CNN reports seven videos have been released. Eric Ferrero, Vice President of Communication, Planned Parenthood of America suggest the Center for Medical Progress has “close ties with organizations and individuals who have been linked to the firebombing of abortion clinics and threats to the physical safety of doctors who provide abortion” and their “real agenda” is “to ban abortion and limit women's access to reproductive health care at Planned Parenthood.” CNN also indicates that StemExpress, which “coordinates with clinics and hospitals to obtain human tissue and blood” has severed ties with Planned Parenthood. “Mommy, can I smash it with a hammer?” asked the boy. Mom, sees the roach, and says, “Yes, please do.” In the back of her mind she’s also thinking it’s time to call the pest control folks. If the “it” was the boy’s little sister, Mom’s answer would be “No, not ever!” Mom would then have to grapple how to help a child see the value of human life. What is it? I am really left aghast in the wake of the June 17, 2015 mass shooting of the nine worshipers in the Emmanuel African Episcopal Methodist Church in Charleston, South Carolina. Measuring things can be a crucial task. If a car has a broken fuel gauge, the doors open for some major troubles, especially of lots of driving is required. If our rule for living is broken, we can never really measure out the way life is supposed to be lived. We work with the wrong scales for making judgments, and our life decisions will just be off. July 14, 2013, I was kicking back at home when the news flash came on that George Zimmerman was found not guilty for the second degree murder of Trayvon Martin. Backtrack to February 26, 2012, when George was on the neighborhood watch, saw Trayvon, perceived the lad was acting suspiciously, through a course of events the two got into a scuffle, with Trayvon dying of a fatal gunshot to the chest. Befuddlement is what I felt after hearing the verdict, as I was certain the accused was facing a guilty verdict. Yet, it is still surreal that this incident has sparked a national debate, with two sides calling the greater populace being defined by a story. Truth is really secondary to the whole debate. Jesus Christ often taught through antithesis—good and evil, right and wrong, true and false. This, of course, is something quite unpopular in an age of relativism, where everyone does whatever is right in one’s own eyes, in a spirit of all inclusive embrace. Yet, Jesus would have not stood for all ways being equal, nor the notion that the only absolute is there are no absolutes. He wanted His followers to know and discern truth. The stakes were high from His perspective, since one’s beliefs and practices had eternal consequence. In the Sermon on the Mount, Christ utilizes earthy images to convey the importance of hearing and living His message. The Lord spoke about two gates, one wide and one narrow, the small gate being the one leading to eternal life (Matt 7:13-14). He warns of wolves in sheep’s clothing, and the only way one could tell them apart was by their fruits. So there are two trees, one being good fruit and the other bad (Matt 7:15-21). The “golden rule” is something familiar to a great many people. Jesus Christ put it this way: “In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets” (Matt. 7:12). There ubiquitousness to this principle, as it can even be found outside the Canon of Scripture in the Jewish Apocrypha, which presents it in its negative form: “And what you hate, do not do to anyone” (Tobit 4:15). Certainly many people hold to this as a truism, and the principle mutual giving and receive of goodness resonates well with the multitudes. Jesus Christ even points out that this principle of reciprocity is foundational to “the Law and the Prophets.” The very Yahweh who entered into history, who rescued the Hebrews from Egyptian slavery, giving them a national identity, reminded them of the promises made to the great patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and created the universe, the very idea of doing unto others what one would have done to ones...

Just read, " Sterilisation: North Carolina Grapples with Legacy " by Daniel Nasaw. It is certainly chilling that at one time in the United States of America in the State of North Carolina that between 1929 and 1974 would sponsor the sterilization of 1,110 men and 6,418 women on the recommendation of a social worker. The very idea of seeing the erradication of the so-called "inferior" is simply the logical extension of a Darwinian naturalistic worldview, wherein lesser species go extinct with the survival of the fittest. Pray that we never repeat the same mistake.

Worshipping God makes a difference. Not just singing inspirational songs, but when life imitates art, and one’s makes it “all about You, Lord,” universal change becomes reality. All the people will see God’s glory shine in the place of worship and they will sing “He is good, and His love endures forever!” 2 Chronicles 7 illustrates for us why worship matters. As I’m watching and reading news reports on the public reaction to US District Judge Vaughn Walker’s ruling to overturn California’s ban on gay marriage on the basis that Proposition 8 violates rights of individuals provided for in the 14th Amendment, I find one of the driving assumptions held by those opposing the law is that homosexuality is a nature and not a behavior. The general idea is that a person is born gay, and that is who they are, it is their nature. As such, to deprive a same sex couple of marriage is tantamount to depriving an inter-racial couple of marriage. Conservative opposition might scream out that the people of California have spoken so it is simply unfair for one judge to impose his will upon the masses. If it is a person’s nature to be gay, and the law forbids the gay person from basic human rights, then an appeal to the majority rule really does not hold much water. A couple of months ago, I picked up a copy of The Francis Schaeffer Trilogy , which contains The God Who is There , Escape from Reason , and He is There and He is Not Silent , in a single volume. Reading through Schaeffer’s 1970s classic He is There and He is Not Silent , which explores the philosophical arenas of metaphysics, morals, and epistemology, particularly that there is a difference in our understanding the world in light of the reality of God being there and not silent, I came across the most haunting statement in his section on morality, wherein he contended that those who hold to an impersonal beginning, whether modern science, or neo-orthodox theology, one must face the inevitable problem of there being no basis for any moral absolutes.
